PROGRAMS & SERVICES

CRISIS RESPONSE AND INTERVENTION (CRI)

CRI provides intervention, emergency response and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. A Crisis Counselor is available 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week, including a 24-hour bilingual hotline. We offer crisis counseling and intervention, needs assessment, emergency shelter, assistance with restraining orders and linkage to appropriate community resources. We also accompany clients to medical facilities, police departments and court as needed.

In 2008, The Coalitition responded to 200 telephone calls; and had 120 personal contacts.

EMERGENCY SHELTER

This 30-day emergency residential program for battered women and their children provides food, clothing, essentials, and medical assistance. Clients have access to individual counseling, support groups, parenting classes, legal advocacy and a job resource center. Children also receive counseling and play therapy. Services are available in English and Spanish. A screening interview is required for admission.

In 2008, The Coalition served 178 clients; served 9,045 meals, provided transportation to 227 clients; and responded to 991 Hot Line Calls.

BATTERER'S INTERVENTION

This county-approved program helps participants modify behavior patterns and break the cycle of violence by learning new skills around power and control, accountability and communication. Men's and women's Spanish and English speaking groups meet weekly for two (2) hours at various locations throughout Ventura County. Participation can be voluntary or court-mandated (a 52-week program). In addition, we offer a 24-week male teen (18 years of age and younger) batterers group.

In 2008, The Coalition had 230 clients attending these group sessions.

COUNSELING PROGRAMS

The Coalition offers comprehensive counseling services to survivors and perpetrators of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our MFT interns and trainees provide individual, family and group counseling services. We offer support groups for victims of domestic violence, rape sexual assault, and incest/molestation.

In 2008, The Coalition provided 402 individual private sessions; and had 252 attendees at the support groups.

Spanish-Language Anger Management Program

We offer this 15-week course for court-mandated and volunteer participants.

Repeat Offender Prevention Program (ROPP)

Created for first-time juvenile felons and their parents/guardians, the ROPP Program is designed to prevent recurring criminal and adverse behaviors for adolescents younger than 15 1/2 years of age. Depending on various needs, the youths are put into groups including anger management and conflict resolution, substance abuse, teen empowerment for girls, and victim impact.

*

Juvenile Probation Services (JPS) Program

Similar to ROPP, JPS is limited to those juveniles on probation and designed to prevent recurring criminal and adverse behaviors by adolescents. Our interns and youth advocates provide numerous services including anger management, substance abuse and teen empowerment groups, along with individual counseling for those in need.

In 2008, The Coalition provided counseling services to 703 youth.

FAMILY HARMONY PROGRAM (PARENTING)

The Family Harmony Program is a blending of various effective parenting programs previously used for years at The Coalition. The result is a unique 12-week curriculum that is applicable to virtually every parenting situation involving children of all ages. The Family Harmony Program was designed to create a more nurturing home environment in which all family members can thrive.

In 2008, The Coalition had 323 parents participating in our Family Harmonoy Program.

CHILD ABUSE INTERVENTION PROGRAM (CAIP)

This county-approved program assists participants in improving parenting skills to prevent violence. Participants gain positive family dynamics by establishing a belief system based on mutual respect and communication. Co-ed Spanish and English language groups are held two (2) hours weekly at The Coalition. Volunteer or court mandated parents may attend the 52-week program.

In 2008, The Coalition held 84 CAIP sessions.

LEGAL SERVICES PROGRAM

To help our clients who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking, The Coalition's Legal Services Program provides licensed legal assistance for immigration under VAWA legislation and for family law cases. Among the services offered to our clientele are limited scope representation in court, court documentation preparation, and instruction for pro per court appearances.

In 2008, The Coalition provided legal services to 1,600 clients.

TRAINING, EDUCATION & OUTREACH PROGRAMS
